Cyclical Inspections

The Assessing Department conducts regular, scheduled inspections to comply with the state’s requirement for five-year inspections on all properties.

The New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration (DRA) randomly inspects properties to verify that the town’s records are accurate. If the DRA finds that assessing records do not meet accuracy requirements and we are not actively engaged in a program to inspect properties, the DRA has the authority to require the town to hire additional personnel to address the problem. Therefore, in 2007 we began visiting 20 percent of the town each year, checking measurements and performing interior inspections.

We send out a letter informing taxpayers approximately when we will be in a particular area. We also leave a note on the door after we have visited the property.
