Registrations - Motor Vehicle and Boat

Note: Per state law, you must present your driver's license for all motor vehicle transactions.
License plates may be obtained from the Town Clerk for:
- Vehicles under 26,000 lbs. GVW
- Trailers under 26,000 lbs. GVW
- Motorcycles
Please note: ALL motor vehicle license plate applications and registrations must be started in the Office of the Town Clerk. If you are interested in obtaining vanity plates, print and complete the application prior to coming to the Town Clerk's office to save time.
Motor vehicle registration fees vary according to the make/model and year of vehicle.
Vehicle registration renewals may be done by mail utilizing your renewal notice and a check made out to the Town of Meredith. You may also use the drop box at Meredith Town Hall. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
You may also do renewals online. Please note that online renewals can only be completed through the 25th of the month for that month's expiration.
If you choose to renew in person, bring the current registration or notice of renewal and your driver’s license with you to ensure your transaction can be processed as quickly as possible.
Please bring in a copy of the Certificate of Title Application (CTA) from the dealership along with your driver's license. If you are transferring plates, your original registration from the vehicle that you are transferring is also required.
If you purchased a vehicle via a private sale, you would need the original title signed over to you. If you are transferring plates, your original registration from the vehicle that you are transferring is also required.
For vehicles that are model years 1999 and older, please provide a bill of sale and either the previous owner’s registration OR a completed Form TDMVA19A (VIN verification).
If you purchased a vehicle (new or used) from a New Hampshire dealer, bring in the CTA from the dealer and the original registration of the vehicle from which you are transferring.
If you purchased a vehicle via a private sale, you would need the original title signed over to you. If you are transferring plates, your original registration from the vehicle that you are transferring is also required.
If you have misplaced your registration, a new one can be obtained by filling out Form RDMV 111. Bring the completed and signed form to Town Hall. You can also mail in your request. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope to return the registration to you, as well as payment for the duplicate registration. The fee for a duplicate registration is $18. Checks should be made payable to the Town of Meredith.
To complete your boat registration in person, bring in the old registration or the bow number with your driver's license. If you are doing a renewal for a boat registration and have the renewal from the State of New Hampshire, we only need one of the slips.
You may also complete your registration by mailing it to the Town Clerk’s office or using the drop box in front of Town Hall. When you do so, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
Note that there is an additional $5 agent fee when you process boat registrations through the Town Clerk’s office. Make checks payable to the Town of Meredith.
To complete a new boat registration in person, bring the bill of sale for the boat along with your driver's license.
