Adaptive Launch at Leavitt Park

Adaptive launch photoThe Adaptive Launch Committee is in partnership with the Meredith Parks & Recreation Department to increase accessibility for all at Leavitt Beach.

Since mobility can affect our ability to enjoy the outdoors, Meredith Parks & Recreation Department is working to ensure that the entire park is inclusive and accessible to all persons!

The Adaptive Launch Committee will raise $58,000 needed to add an adaptive launch. This will enable paddlers of all ages and abilities an easier way to enjoy the paddling opportunities at the north end of Lake Winnipesaukee! Donations can be mailed or dropped off at the Meredith Community Center at 1 Circle Drive, Meredith NH.

For more information, including how to donate, please review the FAQ page!

Thank you to all the donors who have already donated to this project!

Project Update

August, 2025

Launch update

The Adaptive Paddling Launch project is making good progress. Launch Committee members recently conducted a walk-through of the site to plan new signage. Progress Highlights:

  • Permitting – All requirements have been completed by Meredith Parks & Recreation management.

  • Launch Area – The roadway to the launch site has been upgraded. Two accessible parking spaces have been created as well as a paddler drop-off area and egress for emergency vehicles.

  • Launch Structure Fabrication - BoardSafe is now fabricating the launch, which includes a gangway, dock, and kayak/canoe chute. Work is being done in the company’s Pennsylvania location. When completed, the structure will be transported to Leavitt Beach and installed on a date to be determined.

  • Informational Kiosk - It has been designed and ordered.

  • Site Signage – Several advisory signs have been designed and will soon be installed at key locations at and near the Launch site.

  • ADA Accessible Pathway – A final design has been chosen which will provide access from the launch to the picnic/BBQ area and the restrooms near the beach.
