Beaches, Parks, and Recreational Areas

Leavitt Beach is a great place to relax and soak up the natural beauty of the area. This small, sandy beach features a designated swimming area, public canoe/kayak launch, picnic pavilion, and scenic views of the surrounding mountains. Public showers and restrooms are also available, as weather allows, making it a convenient and comfortable place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the area.

The Adaptive Launch Committee has partnered with the Meredith Parks and Recreation Department to ensure Leavitt Beach is inclusive and accessible for all those who would like to enjoy a day on the water. Parking at Leavitt Beach is open to vehicles that display a valid Meredith Facility Use Permit only. There is no parking on Leavitt Park Road at any time. Vehicles without a permit and/or parked along the road will be subject to a fine and towing at the owner’s expense.

Situated along the shores of Lake Waukewan you’ll find Waukewan Beach, a quiet, family-friendly destination for swimming and relaxing by the water. Surrounded by scenic views, the peaceful atmosphere and convenient location make it a great spot to unwind.

Waukewan Beach offers on-site parking with space for up to 20 vehicles. While parking is free, it’s important to note that spots can fill up quickly during peak times. A public boat launch is also just a short distance away.

Named in memory of Stephen and Lavina Childs who donated the land for a community park, Childs Park is located on Meredith Center Road. The park features a playing field, basketball court, “tot lot” playground, and ice-skating rink, providing space for sports and outdoor activities year-round. There is also a picnic area, perfect for family gatherings and outdoor meals.

Circle Drive Park is a tranquil, one-acre, partially wooded area located directly across from the Meredith Community Center. The park offers a peaceful setting ideal for picnics or an afternoon of relaxation.

Located on Main Street, Community Park is home to many town-wide events. Lakes Region residents and visitors alike enjoy craft fairs, concerts, dances, and holiday affairs. The park is also a great place to have lunch or just take a break. Public restrooms are also available. 

This lakeside gem in the heart of Meredith is the perfect place to relax and take in the view. Hesky Park offers shady trees, open green space, and a peaceful path along Lake Winnipesaukee. You'll also find a gazebo, the Meredith Korean War Memorial, and easy access to the public docks, shops, and seasonal treats.

Are you looking for a variety of outdoor activities all in one place? Prescott Park is a beautiful, expansive park known for its well-maintained trails and scenic surroundings. It features sports fields, a playground, a pond, picnic areas, and plenty of open green space. The tranquil setting makes it a popular spot for both relaxation and recreation.

Previously known as Clough Park, Scenic Park is a small but charming green space located at the intersection of NH-25 and Pleasant Street. Offering stunning views of Lake Winnipesaukee, the park features a grassy area, picnic tables, and a peaceful atmosphere ideal for enjoying a lakeside lunch or just relaxing in the sun. Its convenient location makes it a favorite spot for both locals and visitors.

Swasey Park, nestled along the Waukewan Canal, is a hidden gem just minutes from downtown Meredith. The peaceful retreat features wooded trails and scenic water views. It’s perfect for a leisurely walk, with benches and open spaces for relaxing.

Located off Parade Road, the Waukewan Highlands Community Park is a 190-acre managed forest, with a network of hiking trails (varying in length and difficulty). Visitors enjoy hiking, jogging, mountain biking, snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, and horseback riding. There’s also an interpretive trail. Hart’s Pond, which once served as Meredith’s reservoir, is the centerpiece of the area.

Offering over six miles of trails for hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing, the Hamlin Recreation and Conservation Area spans 310 acres. Stunning views of the Belknap Mountains are just the beginning of what you’ll find here, as the area is also home to diverse plant and tree species, including some rare varieties. 

The Meredith Community Forest is a 186-acre natural oasis just outside downtown Meredith. Offering a variety of trails for hiking, snowshoeing, and wildlife viewing, the forest features diverse landscapes, including wetlands, a small waterfall, and beaver ponds. With easy-to-follow trails, it’s an ideal spot for outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds.
